A 13-year-old female student at the Bradley School was arrested around 9:30 a.m. for allegedly assaulting a school staff member.

A 15-year-old female student at PHS was charged shortly after 9:30 a.m. with disorderly conduct (making loud/disturbing noise) during class.

Three New Bedford residents were arrested after the truck they were in was stopped on East Main Road near Cumberland Farms (north) around 3:45 p.m. An officer was on patrol near Citizens Bank when he saw a man jump into the bed of a Dodge pickup truck that had pulled behind the Portsmouth Plaza and come to a stop. The truck then exited the plaza and headed northbound on East Main Road. After stopping the truck, the officer said two female passengers inside the truck’s cab — later identified as Jessica L. Daigneault, 31, and her mother, Leslie A. Daigneault, 47 — began to reach under their seats. The driver, Edmund A. Michael, 43, said he was traveling to Tiverton to drop off the man who was in the bed of the truck. While talking to the occupants, the officer noticed an open syringe on the passenger side floor, police said. During a search of the truck, police said they found nearly 200 small blue packets commonly used for packaging heroin that were in a silver tool box in the bed of the truck, as well as two more unused syringes underneath a seat. Mr. Michael and Leslie Daigneault were both charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony. Mr. Michael was also charged with driving after his license had been denied, suspended or revoked, and there was an active Second District bench warrant out for his arrest. Jessica Daigneault was charged on a warrant out of East Providence police on a possession of heroin charge, police said. All three live at 124 Florence St., Apt. 2, New Bedford.

Wednesday, Nov. 4

Skylynn J. Paiva, 21, of 18 Dighton Ave., was charged with domestic assault at 5:16 p.m. Police said Ms. Paiva assaulted a Portsmouth man shortly after arriving at his home to retrieve their child.

Thursday, Nov. 5

Lindsey B. Duquette, 32, of 59 Home St., Newport, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense), operating under a foreign license that had been suspended or revoked, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Ms. Duquette’s car was stopped for speeding on West Main Road at Turkey Hill at about 1:45 a.m.

Police investigated a complaint that on Nov. 3 and 4 at about 2 p.m., a black drone equipped with a camera was flown over the horse riding areas at 100 Terminal Road. A woman told police the drone came within a few feet of the horses and that she was worried it could spook the animals and cause an injury to one of the riders. She was unable to determine from where the drone had originated, police said.

Friday, Nov. 6

Stephanie M. Wright, 41, of 143 Third St., Newport, was charged at 12:40 a.m. on Second District Court bench warrant. Ms. Wright was a passenger in a car found parked at Weaver Cove after midnight.

Police investigated a report at 11:17 a.m. of vandalism at Glen Park. Police said it appeared a motor vehicle had been driven over the front soccer field, tearing up some grass.

A car driven by Francine Woodhead of Tiverton struck a deer that had run in front of her vehicle around 6 p.m. on East Main Road near St. Mary’s Church. The car sustained disabling damage to its front bumper and had to be towed. Ms. Woodhead was not injured.

Saturday, Nov. 7

Johnny J. Jackson, 27, of 177 Park Holm, Newport, was arrested on a bench warrant issued by Second District Court. Mr. Jackson was a passenger in a car stopped for speeding on West Main Road around 1 p.m.

Vehicles driven by Scott S. Parker of Bristol and George W. Cushman of Portsmouth collided at the intersection of West Main Road and Hedly Street around 4:20 p.m. The accident caused the Parker vehicle to hit the curb and overturn onto its driver’s side, although it was back on all four tires when police arrived. Mr. Cushman complained of pain and was transported by firefighters to Newport Hospital for an evaluation.

A car driven by Adelaide S. Smith of Somerville, Mass. struck and killed a deer in the area of Chase Road and the Route 24 on-ramp around 8:20 p.m. Ms. Smith told police that the deer had run out in front of her car. She was not injured, but her car had to be towed from the scene.
