PORTSMOUTH — A Massachusetts man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police found him asleep at the wheel of his disabled car on Middle Road Saturday morning.
Police responded to 361 Middle Road for a report of a broken-down vehicle when they found a car with disabling damage to its driver’s side front fender and tire.
Police said the operator, Jonathan G. O’Connell, 20, of 23 Plain St., Rehoboth, was sleeping in the driver’s seat.

Tuesday, June 6
Erica G. Medley, 60, of 300 West Main Road, was charged at 8:13 p.m. on a bench warrant that had been issued by 2nd District Court. Officers with knowledge of the warrant found Ms. Medley at her home, according to police.
Friday, June 9
Shortly after 11:30 a.m., police responded to Cumberland Farms, 1812 East Main Road, to investigate a report of illegal dumping. A customer told a store employee that someone had tossed a bag of personal trash into the store dumpster, located on the north side of the building. The witness recorded the person’s license plate and police later identified a female suspect. The woman told police she had some smelly garbage in the bag and that the trash pickup truck had already passed her residence for the week. She retrieved the trash and promised not to do it again, according to police, who did not charge her.
Sunday, June 11
Sean P. Cunningham, 27, of 115 North Main St., Apt. A306, Bellingham, Mass., was charged at about 3:30 p.m. with driving while intoxicated (first offense) following a reported motor vehicle accident at the corner of East Main Road and Turnpike Avenue. According to a witness, the car driven by Mr. Cunningham struck the rear of another vehicle and began to leave the scene. Police pulled Mr. Cunningham’s car over in front of 81 Bristol Ferry Road. He was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.
