PORTSMOUTH — Portsmouth Police are asking members of the public if they have any information regarding an incident Friday in which a local resident overdosed on “brownies” that may have been laced with LSD.
According to Detective Lt. Michael C. Arnold, police were called to a Portsmouth home Aug. 18 for a possible overdose.
“Upon arrival officers encountered one individual who was agitated, incoherent and appeared to be hallucinating,” Lt. Arnold stated in a press release Monday.
The individual and a friend told police they had purchased “brownies” in Newport and brought them back to Portsmouth, where they were consumed, Lt. Arnold said.
“Upon consumption, one of the individuals began exhibiting signs of aggression, became incoherent and began hallucinating. The individuals on scene thought that the ‘brownies’ may have been laced with LSD,” he stated.
Portsmouth Fire Department treated then transported the individual to a hospital.
“The intent of this information is to make the public aware of the incident for public safety purposes and the dangers of consuming illicit substances,” Lt. Arnold said.
Anyone with any information regarding the incident should contact the Portsmouth Police Detective Division at 401/683-0994.
