PORTSMOUTH — A 37-year-old Fall River woman was arrested Friday around 11:30 a.m. after she was observed dealing heroin in the parking lot of CVS Pharmacy on Turnpike Avenue, police said.

Isabel M. Medeiros, of 108 Smith St., was charged with manufacturing, possessing and delivering a controlled substance (heroin) and was held pending an arrangement Saturday morning, Detective Lt. Michael C. Arnold stated in a press release.

The Portsmouth Police Detective Division initiated an investigation due to recent drug overdoses in the area, and identified Ms. Medeiros as a suspect Lt. Arnold said.

The detective division set up surveillance Friday after receiving information that Ms. Medeiros was in the area with a quantity of heroin for distribution, he said.

“After observing Medeiros making a drug transaction in the parking lot of CVS Pharmacy on Turnpike Avenue, she was taken into custody,” Lt. Arnold said.
