Portsmouth Police: Woman shut laptop screen on user’s hands

Posted

PORTSMOUTH — A local woman was charged with domestic assault at about 11:30 p.m. last Friday, July 28, after she allegedly slammed the screen of a laptop computer down on the user’s hands.

According to police, Ambyr A. Berube, 29, of 44 Anson Drive, got into an argument with another woman in the home about the latter’s computer use.

Police said after slamming down the screen, the other woman slapped her in response. Police, however, said they determined that Ms. Berube was the primary aggressor.

Here are some other highlights from the Portsmouth Police reports from over the past week:

Helena N. Stolyarova, 46, of 3790 Curlew Lane, Ann Arbor, Mich., was charged at about 7:35 p.m. with driving while intoxicated (first offense). Police responded to the Mobil Xtra Mart on West Main Road around 7:15 p.m. after receiving a report of an erratic driver that had just pulled into the store’s parking lot. When police arrived, the vehicle was exiting the parking lot, but was later pulled over on Hedly Street. Ms. Stolyarova was also cited for refusing a chemical test.

Wednesday, July 26

Ali M. Gates, 37, of 55 Centre St., Apt. 3, Quincy, Mass., was charged around 2:30 a.m. with driving while intoxicated (first offense). Police said his car was pulled over for speeding in the shopping plaza at 3001 East Main Road.

Thursday, July 27

Police investigated a three-vehicle accident around 7:40 a.m. in the area of West Main and Russo roads. The drivers were Paul Trufant of Kennebunk, Maine; John Hocking of Middleboro, Mass; and Garrett Campion of Portsmouth. According to police, the Hocking vehicle was stopped behind two vehicles in the southbound left lane of West Main Road, attempting to turn left onto Russo Road. The Campion vehicle, also traveling south on West Main, could not stop in time and struck the rear driver’s side fender of the Hocking vehicle, police said. As the Campion vehicle swerved into the northbound, left lane, it struck the Trufant vehicle head on, police said. The Campion vehicle was pushed north and completed a 180-degree turn, striking a curb before coming to a stop facing east in the right, southbound lane, police said. All three drivers refused medical treatment. The Trufant and Campion vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Friday, July 28

Kourtney E. Condon, 24, of 51 John Dyer Road, Little Compton, was charged shortly after 2 a.m. with driving while intoxicated (first offense). Police received a report of a white car that was traveling south on East Main Road on a flat tire. The vehicle was later found partially off the roadway on Pheasant Drive, wedged up against a rock, police said. Ms. Condon was also cited for refusing a chemical test.

Police responded to Common Fence Point after receiving a report that a resident had found a bicycle in the pond near the playground. While searching the area, police found two more bicycles in the weeded area surround the pond. The three bikes were a black Huffy Tyrant, a green Next Chaos and a green and black Magna. The Next Chaos was previously reported stolen, according to police, but the other two bikes did not match the descriptions of previously stolen bicycles in the area.
