Portsmouth teen charged with domestic assault

PORTSMOUTH — A 19-year-old Portsmouth woman was charged with domestic assault on Monday, July 3.

According to police, officers responded to 799 Anthony Road at about 6:30 p.m. on that date after receiving a report of a disturbance involving two family members that involved an alleged assault.

After speaking with both parties involved, the officers determined that enough probable cause existed to arrest Bridgit Maryanne McNamara, of the same address, for domestic simple assault/battery, police said.

McNamara was held at the police station pending her arraignment by a justice of the peace.

The victim was a 57-year-old woman who lives in Portsmouth, police said.
