PORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth Police report from over the past week.

Tuesday, Dec. 8

Keith A. Upshur, 50, of 385 Middle Road, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. on charges of domestic assault (second offense), domestic disorderly conduct and domestic vandalism with malicious injury to property. Police said Mr. Upshur assaulted a Portsmouth woman and that a door inside the home was found off its hinges.

Wednesday, Dec. 9

Police arrested Ian T. Peckham, 25, of 493 South Lake Road, Tiverton, after he allegedly drove his car onto the golf course at Montaup Country Club shortly before midnight. Mr. Peckham had been traveling south on Route 24 and struck two roadway signs near the Anthony Road off-ramp, police said. The vehicle continued over the median, across Anthony Road and through a wooden fence before coming to a rest on the golf course, police said. Mr. Peckham, who sustained a cut above his left eye, told police he was driving home and “missed the turn,” according to police. During a field sobriety test, police said Mr. Peckham became argumentative and repeatedly stated, “I’m a Marine” in slurred speech before refusing to finish the exam. He continued to yell insults at officers and threatened them with assault while being booked at the station, according to police. Mr. Peckham was charged with driving while intoxicated (second offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Saturday, Dec. 12

Ryan M. Sousa, 29, of 2074 North Main St., Apt. 2, Fall River, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police stopped Mr. Sousa’s car for speeding on Body’s Lane at Viking Drive shortly after 1:30 a.m.

Joanne M. Wolf, 51, of 0730 Neck Farm Road, Prudence Island, was charged with domestic larceny of under $500 just before 6 p.m. Police said Ms. Wolf entered the home of an island man unannounced that afternoon, saying she was there on behalf of the Portsmouth Public Works Department to inform him there was a problem with the drainage at his other island residence. The man said he ignored her and went to the bathroom. He then heard a text message alert from his phone, followed by Ms. Wolf yelling an expletive at him before slamming doors, according to police. When he exited the bathroom, the man said Ms. Wolf and his phone were gone. “The complainant later realized that the text he received was from another woman,” Public Safety Officer Glenn Young stated in his report. This angered Ms. Wolf, who sent response texts to the other woman from the man’s phone, he told police. The man showed police text exchanges which he said showed an attempt by Ms. Wolf to break up his relationship with his girlfriend. When police responded to Ms. Wolf’s home to arrest her, she resisted and there was a brief struggle, police said. She was transported to Sand Point Dock where an officer from the Portsmouth Police Department took over custody.

A car driven by Federick Mosenfelder of Portsmouth struck and killed a deer that had run out in front of his vehicle on Route 24 northbound near Sprague Street around 1:40 a.m. The accident caused heavy front-end damage and disabled the vehicle.

Sunday, Dec. 13

Zachary D. Leite, 23, of 345 Davis St., was arrested at 2:41 a.m. on a charge of domestic assault. Police said Mr. Leite assaulted a Portsmouth man earlier in the evening.

Police investigated a report that someone had vandalized a residence on Common Fence Boulevard. A neighbor pointed to graffiti that had been written on a garage door.
