EAST PROVIDENCE — A male from a neighboring town has been charged with the October 25 theft of batteries from the East Providence School bus fleet.
In a press release issued Thursday afternoon, Oct. 26, East Providence Police Detective Lieutenant Raymond Blinn announced the arrest of Edmund Pittsley of Providence Street in Rehoboth.
Mr. Pittsley, 38, was charged with the larceny of bus batteries that were stolen on October 25 from the Ocean State Transportation hub on Commercial Way in city in in the early morning hours of Wednesday. The batteries were later recovered by police in Pawtucket.
Mr. Pittsley, after being contacted by EPPD, turned himself in Thursday morning at approximately 10:15 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing and information gathered by detectives has led to the identification of at least one other suspect. That suspect’s information is not being released at this time.
Mr. Pittsley was arraigned this afternoon in 6th District Court on the felony charges of Larceny over $1,500 and Conspiracy.
