Richard Norman Trudell, 71, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte.

Richard was born Jan. 31, 1946, in Providence, to Rudolph and Zena (Savino) Trudell. He was a graduate of Warren High School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a marine engineer and served five years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He moved to Port Charlotte in 2001 from Warren and retired from the Seminole Gulf Railroad.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Debra Jean Yuncker-Trudell; a daughter, Jessica Zimmerman; two sons, Jeremy and Jason Trudell; step-children, Tina Mays-Waller, Debbie Mays-Soares, Joseph Mays, Laurie Mays-Alves, Melissa Wilson, Jeff Roland, Toby Roland, Nichole Roland and Bradley Yuncker; his mother, Zena Trudell; a sister, Deborah Sylvia; and 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph, and his brother, Edward.

Interment and military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, in Bristol, RI..
