Robert H. Pearson 88, of Riverside died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Betty (Gamble) Pearson. Born in Bessemer City, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Meek and Alma (Froneberger) Pearson.
He graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University in North Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree. Bob was President of the Jones Mayflower Moving and Storage Company until selling the business then was a consultant for Pearson Associates until retiring. He was an active member of the East Providence/Seekonk Rotary and had perfect attendance for 57 years. He was a Past Master of Overseas Lodge No. 40 F&AM and a member since 1957. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Providence, Palestine Temple Shrine, Masonic Veterans’ Association, Swords of Bunker Hill, Grand Lodge of RI and the Order of the Eastern Star. Bob was a member of the New England Trucking Association, the RI Trucking Association where he was a past President and Treasurer, the RI Movers Conference, the Anawan Club, the West Barrington Men’s Club and was a member of the Providence Presbyterian Church where he was a past Deacon. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII.
Besides his wife of 67 years, he leaves a son, David H. Pearson of San Diego, Calif., 4 daughters, Mary L. (Robert) Rosser of Newton, Mass., Sara J. Pearson of Rumford, Debbie Pearson of Victoria, Minnesota, Myra Pearson of Independence, Minnesota, two sisters, Peggy Pearson of Bessemer, N.C., Corinne McCain of Decatur, Alabama, and a granddaughter Kristen Pearson of San Diego, Calif.. He was also the brother of the late Lee Bradley Pearson.
The funeral will be held on Monday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave., Riverside. Burial was private. Calling hours are Sunday, Aug. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Providence Presbyterian Church, 500 Hope St., Providence, 02906 would be appreciated.
