Rose Rossi (Almeida), 81, formerly of Warren, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of Rhode Island. She was the wife of Robert N. Rossi to whom she was married 47 years. She was the former wife of the late John E. Saviano.

Born in Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Manuel D. and Rose (Damaso) Almeida. She was computer assembler at GTech in Warwick for many years before retiring in 2001. A talented artist, she was a painter, woodcarver and produced many pen and ink drawings. She enjoyed staying active in her garden.

Besides her husband, she leaves her three children, Diane Haskins, Rosanne Netto and John Saviano, Jr.; brother, Edward Almeida; and six grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Frank Almeida, Manuel Almeida and Helen Medley.

Her Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4 in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, with visitation prior from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Alexander’s Cemetery, Warren.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
