Sandra Carlin McCormack, 75, of Bristol and North Hutchinson Island, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 28, at Silver Creek Manor. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Jean (MacGregor) Carlin. She was the beloved wife of the late John H. McCormack.

Sandra McCormack, 75, of Bristol

Sandra Carlin McCormack, 75, of Bristol and North Hutchinson Island, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 28, at Silver Creek Manor. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Jean (MacGregor) Carlin. She was the beloved wife of the late John H. McCormack.

She served numerous roles at Framingham Union Hospital, retiring as Nursing Supervisor, 1961 to 1995. She also worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an RN Surveyor, 1996 to 2007.

Loved and adored by many friends, co-workers and family, she was known as a caregiver to all, putting others before herself. She was an avid reader and traveler. Her memberships included the Ocean Resorts Book Club, Framingham Flag Day Committee and later the Bristol Fourth of July Committee. She also supported local election committees.

A health care professional, she served on the Board of Directors for the Newport Visiting Nurses. She graduate from Framingham Union School of Nursing, earned her BS in Psychology from Emmanuel College and her master's in Public Health from Boston University of Public Health.

She was the loving mother of Sean C. McCormack and his wife, Kimberly, of Bristol; grandmother of Conor J. McCormack and Mariana A McCormack; and sister of Nancy H. Carlin-Toohill and the late David K. Carlin. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Rosemarie Carlin of Northborough, Mass., and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Sunday, Jan. 31, at 3 p.m. in St Michael's Episcopal Church, 399 Hope St., Bristol, RI 02809. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Women and Infants Foundation, Women’s Health Center, 101 Dudley Street, Providence, RI 02903. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
