PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Free Public Library was a lively place Sunday night for the annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony.

After Santa Claus arrived by fire truck around 6 p.m., the outside tree was lit and kids headed inside to tell the big guy what they wanted for Christmas.

There was also music, cookies and hot cocoa for all to enjoy.
