SEEKONK — Seekonk Police are seeking a suspect in a series of break-ins over the last few days.

According to the report of SPD Chief Craig Mace, the first reported incident occurred on Thursday, July 23. SPD took two reports of overnight burglaries. A general notice of the burglaries was posted on Twitter. A suspect had gained entrance to the homes by cutting screens and pushing windows open. On Sunday, July 26, SPD received two more burglary reports with similar circumstances.

The following is a synopsis of each burglary.

July 23 – report time 5:44 a.m.: A resident on Cynthia Road reported that someone broke through a front screen of a partially open window. The suspect used the window crank to open the window and gained access to the house. It is believed the suspect entered the house between 12:30 a.m. and 1:10 a.m. The house was occupied. The suspect took items including: two cell phones, handbags, and a camera. One victim’s debit card was later used at a Seekonk gas station.

July 23 – report time 9:39 a.m.: A resident on Luther Street reported that a window was pushed open sometime between 12:24 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. and the home was entered. The suspect apparently found a male resident’s wallet and removed its cash. It is believed the suspect went to a second-floor bedroom that was occupied by a woman and two children. The woman’s handbag was removed from the bedroom and dumped out on the kitchen table. Cash was taken from her wallet. It is believed the suspect left the house through a door.

July 26 – report time 5:22 a.m.: A resident on Watson Street reported a kitchen window was used to gain access to the residence. The suspect entered an occupied bedroom and took a man’s wallet as well as prescription medication.

July 26 - report time 8:46 a.m.: A resident in the 400 block of Cole Street reported that a suspected entered a residence through a front window around 2:30 a.m. after cutting the screen. The residents and guests were in the back yard at the time.

Seekonk Police Detectives acquired video of a person of interest from the gas station where a victim’s debit card was used. The person is a white male with short dark hair. Still photo images derived from the video accompany this news release.

The Seekonk Police Department requests all visual-media outlets to publish the images in an effort to identify the depicted man. We ask that any information be called in to our Detective Division at 508-

336-7027 or our Business line of 508-336-8123.

All residents, as well as residents of other towns and cities, are reminded to be cognizant of unlocked windows in their homes. Steps should be taken to prevent open windows from being opened far enough to allow access to the home. We also remind everybody that car doors should be locked, and valuables secured, when a car is unattended.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call the SPD at 508-336-8123.
