Singing for Shelter benefit concert


Mark and Anne Gorman of Newport are hosting their 10th Annual Singing for Shelter acoustic Christmas concert, for the benefit of Lucy’s Hearth and The McKinney Shelter. This year’s performers include: Jack Casey, Ed McGuirl, Mike Fischman, Tom Perrotti, Joe Lambiase, Jimmy Winters, Ed LEdwith, Rand Bradbury, The New 40, John Monllos, Joanne Rodino, Zanricky Duo, Michelle Siegal, Matt Bruneau, Leslie Grimes, Julio Amaro, Kevin Sullivan, Rick Jones, Mike Jackson, John Flanders and Al Fresco Flutes. 

WHERE: Channing Church, 135 Pelham St., Newport

WHEN: Thursday, Dec. 7 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

COST: Advance tickets are $18 and are available at Lucy’s Hearth; $20 the night of the show

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
