The National Merit Scholarship Program recently released its list of scholarship semifinalists — six Barrington High School students made the list.

Ryan P. Brady, Jane O. Freiman, Allyson R. Grant, Eliot J. Laidlaw, Michael C. Lamontagne and Clara McBride have been selected as semifinalists.

About 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which served as an initial screen of program entrants.

There are approximately 16,000 semifinalists.
