Students at Sowams School and Hampden Meadows School received an early Halloween treat on Tuesday morning — no school.
Barrington Superintendent of Schools Michael Messore sent out an email early Tuesday morning, announcing that two of Barrington's schools — Sowams and Hampden Meadows — would not have class on Tuesday. All other schools were open.
Mr. Messore wrote that electricity had not yet been restored to Sowams School and Hampden Meadows School. All teachers from those schools were instructed to go to either the high school or middle school for professional development.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the National Grid outage map was showing that crews had not yet been assigned to the power outage impacting Hampden Meadows School.
