Bouncy houses, haunted hayride and more planned for fund-raiser

Sowams School will host its 24th annual Octoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 14.

The fun, family-focused event, will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school.

This year's festival will feature many favorites from previous years such as the haunted hayride, an obstacle course, bouncy houses, and a photo booth. Attendees will also enjoy dozens of other activities and games that are in their final planning stages.

In addition to event and raffle ticket sales, many local businesses are generously sponsoring and donating items and gift cards to the annual online auction at www.biddingforgood.com/Sowams. In recent years, the auction alone raised $8,000 for the school.

Octoberfest serves as the largest fund-raiser of the school year for the Sowams School. This event helps fund field trips, electronics, enrichment programs, new library books, family nights at the school, as well as maintenance of the school gardens and playground.

The event is free and open to the public to attend. Sowams School is located at 364 Sowams Road. The event will be held rain or shine.
