I think it is about time that BRISTOL AND WARREN HAD THEIR OWN SCHOOLS. We were alone in Bristol for a long time and had no problems. Let's get back to Bristol and let Warren get back to Warren. I think that's the best way.

I would like to say some real truth about Mt. Hope High School's safety and staff. IT'S THE PARENTS AND STUDENTS WHO ARE MAKING THE SCHOOL UNSAFE. In the past years, I have noticed a lot more students who think they can walk on water. They are extremely disrespectful to teachers, administration and staff. They break all the rules that are in place to keep them safe, and have no fear of discipline. As a member of the community, I have seen vast improvements in safety since I was a student there. They have installed new doors in the main lobby that secure the students form the public chucking in. They also practice different safety scenarios to ensure students are knowledgable about different scenarios that could take place. All doors are locked when the bell rings at 8 a.m. Yes, the doors may open at at 2:20 p.m. to make it easier for the special education students at that time. But there are always at least two teacher assistants in the area, as well as the receptionist and the resource officer . The school day ends at 2:30 and there are over 1,000 students leaving the building at that time. Do you actually think it is possible to stop anyone from entering the building when there are 1,000 students are walking out through every exit door in the building? In reference to the parent who wrote, "I could be a shooter," surely you could be but when you're waiting to be buzzed in, are you going to be waiving your weapon at the camera? It's highly unlikely. Also, are you going to go through the front door where it will take you longer to reach a mass number of students? Probably not. I also find it hilarious it was written that the secretary makes no eye contact with you. If that was correct, then how would you get through the second set of doors? Yes, the school is so unsafe

I'm calling about Mt. Hope High School receptionist position. It was in the Phoenix a couple weeks in a row about her not answering the door, not buzzing people in, not answering the phones. I too have had that incident happen numerous times. I thought the principal and the superintendent would have taken care of this issue. I thought it was taken care of. My daughter told me that her friend was waiting in the foyer to get into the school for seven minutes when another gentleman came in and CALLED FOR SOMEONE IN THE SCHOOL TO LET HIM IN.

I'm just calling to say kudos to the person who complained about the Mt. Hope HIGH SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION AND WHY WE HAVE SO MANY. We have to cut a budget of $1.2 million. With that being said, instead of cutting programs, why don't we look at the top and all the way down, and cut some administration? We have a principal, an assistant principal and a dean at Kickemuit. We have a principal, two assistant principals and a dean at the high school. You have the administration office bulging with people. Other towns, if you investigate them, are working with a lot less administration, and doing it well, I might add. We are going to end up cutting programs because no one wants to cut administration. You had the top 10 in the paper for pay. One of those people has no classes, maybe two or three classes a dy. The other time, he's free and he's making one of the top 10? Are you kidding me? I work very hard for my money. My husband works very hard for his money. The taxes in this town are getting ridiculous and we are going to have to make up the difference because the school department doesn't know how to make a budget that makes sense. We cut programs for kids, but God forbid if we touch administration. If you have a good principal and a good assistant principal, thats all you should need. Why is everything different for the Bristol Warren School District? Please look at what you're doing. It's out of control. Someone needs to do something. We have students without programs. We have students that we cannot meet their needs because we keep cutting and cutting and cutting.

I'd like to comment on the bike path. I ride my bike there and get very FRUSTRATED BY THE PEOPLE WHO ARE WALKING. They have every right to be there and do as I do, but they should follow the rules of the path. On many days, I have to ride off the path because there are people walking three and four wide blocking both lanes. Most don't even attempt to let you by and give dirty looks as if I don't have a right to be there. Basically, please follow the rules of the bike path.
