I agree on the FIREWORKS ISSUE that was raised a few weeks ago. I do hope the police and the fire department take heed on those egotistical people who feel they can do whatever they want, especially during the Fourth of July. These people continue to light very loud fireworks and disrupt other people’s lives because they feel they have a sense of entitlement. If the departments do not take action, I feel the town administrator should take steps in reducing their budget for the following year, for lack of doing their jobs.

This is in reference to Mr. Mario Mancieri’s letter to the editor. I agree about the change in governance structure and allow the district to become AN INDEPENDENT ENTITY. Having the members coming from the districts of the two communities would keep everyone in check and balance, with one thing in mind — the children in both communities get the best education possible from a public school system.

As a taxpayer, I am obligated to keep my property in good condition. How is it that some property owners are allowed to keep their properties in such DEPLORABLE CONDITION? Doesn’t the code compliance officer make routine checks of houses that do not maintain mandated town codes? There are a couple houses I have observed — one on Bay View Ave and one on the lower part of High Street — that if I was a neighbor, I would be livid and I would be right in the faces at the Town Hall and at Town Council meetings. I drive down these streets every day and it makes me sick just looking at these homes. If I was an abutting neighbor, I would definitely not pay my taxes until those issues are addressed. Let’s keep Bistol what every Bristolian knows it to be — a great place to raise your children and your grandchildren.
