Speak-Out: Stop the fireworks, fire the Town Council

Posted

I know it’s Fourth of July time — I get it. But NOT ALL OF US ARE ON VACATION. I really think the fireworks should be limited to 10 p.m. Some of us do have to get up for work in the morning.

I’m calling regarding Sgt. McKenna. I’m very sorry for him and his family, and I appreciate his service. But HAS EVERYONE FORGOTTEN about Sgt. Andrade, who also died in this war? I think they should be mentioning his name along with McKenna.

What have local people been talking about? Check out a recent Speak-Out here

I’ve lived in this town all my life. The taxes and everything else are going up, GOING TOO FAR UP. The poor people who work hard all their lives. They can’t afford to live in their homes anymore.

Every year, my grandchildren have been participating in the Orange Crate Derby. They have a great time. But every year I hear them say, gee, NOT ENOUGH KIDS ARE PARTICIPATING. Well, after the derby, no one ever puts pictures or a story in the paper about it. I think it should be promoted a little bit more so kids know they can join in the fun of the beginning of the Fourth of July activities.

The next time the election comes around for the Town Council people, THE PEOPLE OF BRISTOL SHOULD WAKE UP and realize that the council that’s there now, there are only two of them that are there now that are worth anything. There should be three of them that are traded out because I don’t like how they operate. They are not being fair with anybody, especially the ones that want all these liquor licenses.
