As I work in homes after school where children come home ravenous, I sympathize with the menus at Guiteras School. I ADMIRE THE STUDENT’S COURAGE as she tries to improve school lunches at Guiteras. That cheese is not healthy for one thing. Protein is so necessary. I tried to improve disgusting lunches served to our homebound patients and elderly by calling Meals on Wheels for four years until my mother finally passed away. I got absolutely nowhere, so good luck, Guiteras.

I’m calling to thank the BRISTOL SENIOR CENTER, Maria and Donna, for making available the van after working hours to take seniors to a wake on Thursday night, April 27. And a special thank-you to Dave, the bus driver.

I just finished reading the article written by Arlene Violet on the veterans home changes, and I’m UPSET OVER HOW MUCH WE’VE AGREED TO PAY for it, and in the end we’re getting less. And the old veterans home, it appears they want to knock it down instead of using it for homeless veterans and spouses of veterans that are residents. It’s a shame because it sounded like the perfect ideal situation for everybody, and now we’re not going to get it and we’re even paying more. I would like our legislators to look into it, maybe get an audit of all the costs so far.

This is in response to the person who commented about the Dunkin’ Donuts proposal in the Good Ave. plaza and asked when does the town of Bristol give away free land to business owners. You only need look at the end of Howe Street, the paper road and SEE WHAT THE DEVELOPER HAS DONE with that land, turning it into a swamp for his own personal gain. What a shame. The town of Bristol really needs to get on top of these things.
