A Barrington police officer was on patrol at 12:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, when he spotted a vehicle speeding on Maple Avenue.

The officer ordered that vehicle over to the side of the road, and later issued the driver, a 50-year-old East Providence man, a ticket for speeding and not wearing a seat belt.

After the stop, the East Providence man allegedly "burned rubber" while accelerating away from the stop. The police officer tracked down the motorist again and issued him another ticket.

Empty package delivered

A Carriage Trail resident called police on Monday, Nov. 23, after a package arrived from FedEx that did not include any contents. The resident told police she had purchased 10 American Express gift cards, totaling $1,300 in value. The package was supposed to contain those cards, but they were not there. The resident contacted FedEx and American Express and canceled the cards.

Missing laptop found

A person brought a laptop and its case into the police station after finding the items on New Meadow Road near the intersection with Kent Street on Monday, Nov. 23. Meanwhile, a resident had already contacted police to report a lost laptop — she said she had placed it on top of her car, forgot about it and then drove off. Police later returned the laptop to the woman.

Neighbor filming neighbor

An Adams Point Road resident reported ongoing issues with one of his neighbors on Sunday, Nov. 29. He said his neighbor had set up a video camera and was filming him while he was inside his home. Police investigated but said there appeared to be no violation of law.
