Spooky trails (and treats) on Saturday

Spooky season has arrived at the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown. Guests are invited to wear their best Halloween costume for a festive afternoon on the sanctuary trails between 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Gather with friends and family for Halloween exploration in the fields and forests at the Norman Bird Sanctuary. Walk past graveyards and stop along the trails at stations offering goodies and yummy treats.

Guests are welcome to arrive at any time between 1 and 4 p.m. Allow for one hour to visit all treat stations. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Tickets are $20 for non-members — free to children under 3. Purchase tickets here.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
