Eagles celebrate seniors with win over Portsmouth

Three BHS seniors account for 15 goals

The Barrington High School girls lacrosse team stretched its win streak to six with a 21-14 victory over Portsmouth on Monday night, May 15. 

The Eagles’ record improved to 11-2 with the win, while Portsmouth fell to 7-6.

It was senior night at Victory Field, and the seniors put on quite a performance. 

Seniors Emma Johnson, Violet Gagliano and Charlotte Danyla combined for 15 goals. 

Johnson had six goals and two assists, while Gagliano had five goals, three assists and nine draw controls, and Danyla had four goals and two assists.

The Eagles’ defensive end was covered by four seniors. Amy LaBelle, Hannah Jackson, Peyton Whittet and Abby Martel all secured key turnovers to help lock up the win for Barrington.

Barrington’s Alex Hope had three goals, four assists and two draw controls and Anna Lombardi had two goals and 10 major draw controls.  Stella Hillier had one goal and one assist. Kate McAdams played well in net with nine saves for the Eagles.

For the Patriots, Emilie Babola had five goals, Elly Skeels had three goals and one assist, while Kaitlin Roche, Sophia Sebolt, and Nora Gooney each had a pair of goals. 

Barrington, which is ranked second in the division, is scheduled to play at East Greenwich on Thursday, May 18, in the final game of the regular season.
