Sweeney: Continuing progress — continuing success

Posted

We have made progress these past several years. The ‘Firefighter’s Tax Incentive’ ensures that our volunteer fire department remains strong by providing a property tax break. Our LED conversion is almost complete, saving significant tax dollars. We’re expanding our marina and boardwalk, and we’re nearing the installation of a solar farm over the old landfill.

I am committed to continuing to reduce our waste by studying a food-scrap composting plan; continuing the development of our town maintenance plan to reduce long-term costs; working to ensure our schools are properly funded to keep them strong; and making sure Bristol remains affordable for working families and seniors.

I promised that I would always work as part of the council team, to bring a fresh approach and always put the people of Bristol first. I have kept and recommit to my promise. I ask for your continued support and vote on Nov. 6.

Timothy Edward Sweeney

Mr. Sweeney is a Democrat running for Bristol Town Council.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
