On Thursday, Dec. 17, my sister and my dog were seriously injured in an unprovoked vicious attack by a pit bull which was on the loose. This is the same dog which attacked another dog in August of this year. I would like to thank Animal Control Officer Jen Roia, the Bristol Police Department, the Division of Medical Services and Sakonnet Veterinary Hospital for their prompt and professional services. Special thanks to Liz Damasio who came out of her house, summoned help and comforted my sister and dog. My family has been overwhelmed and greatly appreciate of the calls, cards and words of concern and the support given to us during this highly emotional incident.
A vicious dog hearing will be held on Monday, Dec 28, at 10 a.m. at the Bristol Animal Shelter, 10 Minturn Rd. The public, although they are not eligible to speak, has the right to attend if they so wish. This Christmas will be a little more merrier as we give thanks for the physical and emotional wellbeing of my sister Dee and dog Pearse.
