Thomas P. Olean, 90, of Barrington, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of the late Bernice (Toner) Olean and the late Barbara A. (Mercer) Olean. He was a loving father, uncle, cousin and grandfather. He was a friend to all and a mentor to many. He will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Thomas and Alice (Paul) Olean. Mr. Olean was the president of the Thomas Olean and Sons Plumbing & Heating Company and was also a licensed professional engineer. He was a 1945 graduate of East Providence High School and a 1950 graduate of the University of Rhode Island. Mr. Olean was a longtime member of the Wannamoisett Country Club, a past member of the Barrington Yacht Club and a member of the Providence Rotary where he was the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award from Rotary International.
He leaves two children, Nancy S. Morrissette of Barrington and Paul G. Olean of Lincoln. He was the father of the late James K. Olean. He also leaves four grandchildren, Thomas, Adam, Edward and Alex, one brother, Edward Olean of Seekonk and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family. He was the brother of the late James Olean.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Luke’s Church, Washington Road, Barrington. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
