Tigers win league-lead thriller on walk-off single
Strong pitching was the key as Tiverton won a Division II weekend showdown with co-leader Ponagansett. Both teams entered the game with 13-2 records.
Tiverton’s Leonardo Feliciano not only pitched a gem of a ballgame but, with the game in extra innings, he smacked a bottom-of-the-seventh single with the bases loaded to give Tiverton a walk-off victory.
From the mound, Feliciano went the distance, allowing one run and six hits while picking up six strikeouts.
Now 14-2, Tiverton ends the regular season with three games this week: 4 p.m. Monday at home against Bishop Stang; 4 p.m. Wednesday at home against Prout; and 4 p.m. Friday at Scituate.
The Tigers have been equally successful (7-1) both home and away this season.
