Tiverton Democratic Town Committee announced its support Thursday for Tiverton Town Council Member Brett Pelletier in the Senate District 11 Democratic Primary held Tuesday.The

The town committee held a forum for the three Democratic candidates – Tiverton Town Council member Brett Pelletier, Portsmouth Town Council member James A. Seveny, and former State Representative Amy Rice - vying for the Senate District 11 seat recently vacated by Senator Christopher Ottiano.

After hearing from each of the candidates on a variety of issues including how they will help grow our local economies, education and Governor Raimondo’s RhodeWorks proposal, the committee voted its support for Mr. Pelletier.

“Brett has shown a strong commitment to our community over the past five years as a member of the Tiverton Town Council,” said Mike Burk, chairman. “He’s one of those political leaders who studies the issues and does his homework before making decisions. He has shown a willingness and the ability to work with people across the political spectrum to identify and implement solutions to tough problems. We believe he will be an asset in the Senate to all of the communities that make up Senate District 11. The TDTC is proud to support Brett in this primary and we urge all those voting in the Democratic primary to support him on December 1.”
