Tiverton travels to Newport Thursday morning in hopes of finally notching a win in the sixth year of the Tiverton-Rogers Thanksgiving Day football series.

Playing against Division IIA Rogers is a tall order for the Division IV Tigers who have gone 0-5 since the series started in 2010.

This year finds Rogers atop Division IIA with a 6-1 division record; 8-2 overall. Rogers has ridden a powerful running offense, outscoring opponents 322-106.

Tiverton is in the middle of Division IV with a 4-4 division record; 4-7 overall.

But the Tigers have played some of their best football of late, coming off two straight wins over Exeter-West Greenwich (13-7) and Scituate (23-6).

Tiverton has scored 160 points during the season while allowing 241.

In its previous two games, Rogers beat Mount Hope 40-6 but then lost to Classical 28-12.

2010- Rogers 34, Tiverton 8

Before that, Tiverton squared off against Warren on Thanksgiving Day from 1970 to 1992 when Warren became part of Mount Hope High School.

Warren took that series with 17 wins, 5 losses and a tie.
