Tiverton Police: Miniature horses killed

Monday, March 7

At 10:07 a.m., Melissa Belanger, 37, of 19 Mill Street, Tiverton, was charged with allowing a dog to run at large and with two counts of having an unlicensed dog. Shortly later, at 10:27 a.m., Cindy Medeiros, 35, of 197 Hayden Avenue, Tiverton, was also charged with allowing a dog to run at large and with two counts of having an unlicensed dog.

At 4:12 p.m., a report came in that two cows were loose on the road near Deer Run Road, but officers were unable to locate them.

Tuesday, March 8

At 1:19 a.m., a motorist reported a dead deer on Judson Street west of Main Road. Both DEM and DOT were notified.

At 2:35 a.m., Shawn P. Carroll, 25, of 130 Fairwood Drive, Tiverton, was charged with driving with an invalid license, and reckless driving and eluding police.

At 7:10 a.m., a 16-year-old Tiverton boy was charged in the area near Tiverton High School with possession of marijuana (one ounce or less, under 18 years old).

At 2:39 p.m., two people were reported stuck in an elevator between the main and first floors at the Stafford Point Senior Center. Everyone was out by 3:09 p.m., and the elevator company was notified.

Kayla Pearson, 29, of 69 Fairfield Avenue, Tiverton, was charged at 3:01 p.m. with domestic simple assault and with making a false report of a crime.

At 4:07 p.m., a caller's neighbors on Lawrence Court were reported yelling and taking pictures of the complainant's home.

At 5:07 p.m., Gregory S. Mathias, 29, of Portsmouth, was charged under an affidavit and arrest warrant.

Hega Otero, 33, of Cranston, was charged at 5:50 p.m. with driving with an invalid license and with obstructing an officer.

At 11:02 p.m., Robert J. Rancourt, 25, of 24 Evergreen Avenue, Tiverton, was charged with possession of a scheduled drug, driving in possession of a scheduled drug, and under a 2nd District Court bench warrant.

At 11;20 p.m., an accident involving miniature horses in the area of 1800 Bulgarmarsh Road, resulted in the death of at least two of them and the injury of another. Both DEM and the DOT were called. Meanwhile, 10 steers were reported loose in the area of Restful Valley.

Thursday, March 10

At 4:32 p.m., a Judson Street resident was advised not to burn trash in his back yard.

At 10:50 p.m., Christopher R. Rinier, 25, of 41 Main Road, Little Compton, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and eluding police, resisting arrest and refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test.
