Tiverton Police: Three charged with DUI; dogs, peacock out in cold

A Bulgarmarsh Road caller reported threats and harassment.

A man and a woman were reported to be throwing trash onto a lawn on Main Road at around 8 a.m.

Vandalism and the theft of a television were reported at a house under construction on Main Road.

Wednesday, Jan. 3

Paul Diogenes, 45, of 83 American Legion Highway, Westport, was arrested on a Superior Court bench warrant at 9:38 a.m.

Heather Gauthier, 32, of 765 Pine Hill Road, Westport, was charged with domestic vandalism and domestic disorderly conduct at 1:32 p.m. after an incident at that address.

After he was stopped on Main Road at 6:35 p.m., Edward Pedro, 61, of Fall River, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and refusing a chemical breath test.

Thursday, Jan. 4

Police received numerous reports of cars stuck in roadways all over town — at 12:50 p.m., three cars in a ditch on Route 24; at 1:02 p.m., car took out mailboxes on East Road.

John A. Peckham, 48, of 90 Willow Ave., Little Compton, was charged with driving with a suspended license, a suspended registration and without evidence of insurance after a traffic stop on Route 24 at 10 p.m.

A person reported that a dog and cat were left in a trailer off Main Road — owner moved to Jamestown.

A Deer Run Road resident reported two black steers on his front lawn. The farmer said he would retrieve them.

Friday, Jan. 5

Abbie R. Banville, 18, of 74 Restful Valley Road, was charged at 11:39 p.m. with domestic simple assault, domestic disorderly conduct, and simple assault.

Pipes burst in a Crandall Road house; water flowing for 24 hours flooded second floor and caused considerable damage.

Two cats were reported under a house in the cold on Cardinal Court. The owner said the cats can come and go from the house as they please.

A customer at a Crandall Road bar said he put $700 in cash on the bar under his gloves but when when he turned to pay the bartender the money was gone. Police are investigating.

8:30 p.m. — Drifting snow made Oakland Street impassible. DPW said they can’t plow until a car is removed from roadway.

Saturday, Jan. 6

Water main breaks were reported in the vicinity of Main Road and Haskins Avenue and on Brackett Avenue.

Sunday, Jan. 7

Police received numerous calls about dogs left out in the cold. In most cases the owners brought the animals in when asked.

Police went to Captains Circle at 10:57 a.m. for a report of a peacock walking in the roadway apparently having a hard time with the cold. It was later reported that the bird may have flown off.

After a traffic stop on Main Road, Eric T. Johnson, 31, of 67 Malee Terrace, Portsmouth, was arrested at 3:04 a.m. on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Locks were cut and propane tanks stolen from outside Rite Aid on Main Road.

Seapowet Road “in very poor condition” due to blowing snow.

Monday, Jan. 8

Mariely Rodriguez, 20, of Providence, was charged with drunk driving and receiving stolen goods (misdemeanor) at 402 a.m. on Main Road in Tiverton.
