Junior Monique Gwinn fires the ball across the net in first singles action against Shea.
TIVERTON — Tiverton handled Shea 6-1 in a girls tennis match last week on Tiverton’s courts to improve its league record to 5-3. The Tigers only loss on the day was a forfeited doubles match.
Emma Panell made a strong start at first singles for Tiverton, taking the opening set 6-0. She then held on to take the second set 7-6 (7-2 tie-breaker).
At second singles, Cosette Coston rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 victory, while Alexandra Roussin had a tighter match at third singles — 6-3, 7-6 (7-4 tiebreaker). Monique Gwynn made quick work of her fourth singles opponent, 6-1, 6-0.
Tiverton’s first doubles team of Alexis DeSousa and Skylar Lewis won 6-0, 6-1, while the second doubles team of Rachael Queern and Madison Medeiros won 6-0, 13-11.
