The Tiverton girls lacrosse team got off to a strong start at home last Thursday but wound up losing in heartbreaking fashion — 10-9 in sudden death overtime — to a strong Cranston West (7-2) team.

Cranston West’s Jolie Rouleau, who had eight of her team’s goals, scored the game-winner in extra time.

Tiverton led 5-3 after the first half but Cranston West managed to tie the game with a 6-4 second half edge, setting up overtime.

Senior Captain Heidi Kiser led the Tigers’ offense with three goals. Emma Geoghegan (two assists), Hope Sherman and Emma Souza netted two apiece for Tiverton, and Jane Redden and Rachel Pare each scored a goal.

Goalie Marissa Marks was busy in goal making a dozen saves for the Tigers.

The loss dropped Tiverton to 1-9 on the season.
