Traffic stop yields heroin stash

Westport Police stopped her car for motor vehicle violations Friday but wound up arresting a Providence woman on more serious matters.

After they pulled over Martiza Diaz’s blue Hyundai sedan on State Road, officers investigated further and found 130 packets of what is believed to be heroin with an estimated street value of $800. Also found was $857 in cash.

Ms. Diaz was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug, heroin. She was taken to the Bristol County House of Corrections pending bail review.
