Barrington police conducted a well-being check at a Wildflower Road residence on Tuesday, March 20.
Officers knocked on the door, but there was no answer. An officer opened the unlocked door and shouted to see if there was anyone inside. Again there was no answer.
Police conducted a check of the interior to make sure there was no one inside who might need help, but only found that the home was filled with trash and other debris. The interior smelled of feces and trash, said officers. Some of the home's rooms were blocked by piles of trash, and it also appeared that the home had no heat.
Police spoke to a neighbor who said the home has been empty for a couple of months. Police contacted a family member who said the homeowner was house-sitting for her mother in New York.
