Two dogs named Daisy duke it out in Barrington

The Barrington Police Report was filled with a handful of animal-related incidents this week, including one featuring two dogs named Daisy.

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, police were notified about a dog fight: A female Collie and a female mixed-breed — both dogs were named Daisy — got into a fight and were later checked out by area veterinarians. Neither dog was badly injured and both were up-to-date on their vaccinations.

Also on Oct. 21, police responded to Nayatt Elementary School for a report of a loose dog wandering the property at about 2:50 p.m. The officer quickly located the dog — it was reportedly very friendly — and brought it to an area dog shelter. The dog, a Gordon setter, was wearing a collar that listed its name "Sadie" and its owner's phone number. The officer called the owner who later picked up Sadie. Police issued the owner a summons for improper restraint of a dog. The owner must also pay shelter fees.

On Thursday, Oct. 22, police responded to a sad scene near the intersection of Rumstick Road and Highland Avenue: a resident's cat had been struck and killed by a passing car. Neighbors recognized the cat and alerted its owner of the situation. The car that struck the cat did not stop afterward.
