PORTSMOUTH — American Legion Post 18 and VFW Post 5390 will hold their annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, at Portsmouth Town Hall.
The Portsmouth Town Council will be honoring veterans who served in the Armed Forces during Operation Just Cause (Panama) at the Monday, Nov. 14 meeting. Invitations have been mailed to 150 Portsmouth veterans identified using public records.
These records may not contain all veteran names, however, so if you served during the time period of Dec. 20, 1989 and Jan. 31, 1990 and did not receive an invitation, contact Carolyn Evans-Carbery by using the Portsmouth Project Blue Star website at www.portsmouthbluestarproject.net/ and click on the RSVP link, or call 401/683-9375.
A motorized electric scooter is available to a disabled veteran. The three-wheeled scooter is now located in VFW Post 5390 game room, and a new battery was recently installed. Contact SVC Carlton Johnson for details at 401/683-2546 or carltonrj@aol.com.

Disabled American Veterans Lawson-Raiola Chapter 15 East Bay meets at 2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month at the Rhode Island Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Ave., Bristol, in the employee dining room. The next meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 8. Contact Post 5390 SVC Carlton Johnson and/or Service Officer Walter Coelho for details and information about joining DAV.
