Bristol Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred early this morning in a Dunkin’ Donuts drive-through.

According to police, at 1:56 a.m. a 46-year-old man from Pawtucket entered the drive-through lane to make a delivery to the restaurant at 381 Metacom Ave., at the corner of Franklin Street and Metacom. A man was lying on the ground in the drive-through lane and was struck by the 2017 Isuzu truck.

Police reported that the victim was not an employee and it is not clear what he was doing there.

Bristol Rescue personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.

The incident is under investigation by Bristol Police and the Rhode Island State Police Commercial Enforcement Unit.
