Virginia A. (Amaral) Covel-Maltais, 77, of Dartmouth, formerly of Westport, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Brandon Woods of New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Maltais.
Mrs. Covel-Maltais was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Antone and Amelia (Perez Pacheco) Amaral. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her two sons, Robert J. Covel Jr. of New Bedford and Gary R. Covel and his wife Anabela of Dartmouth; her daughter, Donna A. Covel of Fall River; two step-sons, Robert A. Maltais Jr. and his wife Debra of Westport and Dennis D. Maltais and his wife Jeannette of Acushnet; step-daughter, Susan A. (Maltais) Tessier and her husband Roger of Fall River; two sisters, Beverly Maiato of Warren and Cynthia Zeiba of Taunton; along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was the step-mother of the late Michael Maltais and sister of the late Christine Amaral, Natalie Gervais and George Amaral.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Friday, April 7, from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
