Walk the Woods with Barrington Land Trust

Sowams Woods has come alive with the chattering of birds and new spring growth. The Barrington Land Conservation Trust invites all ages to two go-at-your-own-pace walks with land trust Executive Director Cindy Elder. They will provide a map for people who would like to strike out on their own. You can go faster or slower and rejoin the group at any point.

WHAT: Two spring walks for all ages

WHEN: Thursday, May 18, at 9 a.m. or Saturday, May 20, at 10 a.m.

WHERE: Sowams Woods, juncture of North Lake Drive and old South Lake Drive, Barrington

COST: Free, but space is limited

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
