The Warren Democratic Town Committee has announced its 2018 slate of candidates for Warren Town Council, endorsing four candidates in the November election: Incumbent Keri Cronin, former councilor Brandt Heckert and Warren Planning Board members June Speakman and Keith Phillis. Committee chairman Steve Thompson, a member of the council since 2014, will not seek re-election.

Ms. Cronin, who currently serves as vice president of the council, was elected in 2016. The owner of DISH on Water Street with her mother Sara Volino, she plays a major role in Discover Warren and is active in the Bristol Warren Educational Foundation and other local non-profits. Keri and her husband Prescott live on Union Street and have an adult daughter who enjoys coming home to visit. When she's not working, you'll likely bump into her walking her dog Tigro around town or trying to corral her chickens. She also enjoys baking pies, strawberry/rhubarb is her favorite.

Mr. Heckert, who was voted onto the council in 2014 and served one term, is also a veteran of the planning board and was chairman of the Warren Economic Development Board. As the owner of Pastiche Café in Providence, Mr. Heckert has been a small business owner for 30 years. He and wife Eileen live in a historic home on State Street.

Ms. Speakman currently serves on the planning board and is a board member of Housing Works Rhode Island. A former Barrington resident, she served on the town council there for 14 years, with eight as president, and served on the State Housing Appeals Board from 2010 to 2016. She is a professor of Political Science at Roger Williams University, enjoys cooking and spending time with friends, her two adult sons and her dog Lady.

An attorney, Mr. Phillis currently serves on the planning board, after having previously served on the Warren Economic Development Board.  He holds a JD from Roger Williams University and a Masters of Law degree from Boston University. When he is not working, Mr. Phillis enjoys golfing and trying new and interesting foods. He is married to wife Lisa. This is Mr. Phillis's first time running for elected office and he said he is excited to meet Warren residents and to hear what issues are important to them.
