Warren man faces additional child porn charges

Christopher Kinney, 43, was first arrested last month on enticement, porn charges following police sting

A Warren man arrested last month on child pornography and child enticement charges has been charged with more pornography and child sex-related crimes.
A federal grand jury last week indicted Christopher Kinney, 43, of 631 Metacom Ave., on two counts of production of child pornography and one count each of the distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography, as well as enticement of a minor to engage in illicit sexual activity.
Mr. Kinney, who first appeared in federal court on April 27, was ordered detained at his arraignment by U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Patricia A. Sullivan.
Police allege that beginning in mid-April, Mr. Kinney had a series of online communications with a state police detective who he believed was a 14-year-old girl. Authorities alleged that in a series of online and text chats with the detective, Mr. Kinney expressed his desire to meet with the girl at the Warwick Mall, where he would dress her in a diaper and, after walking around the mall with her, engage in illicit sexual activity with her. The detective, who began investigating Mr. Kinney after being alerted by a co-worker to a disturbing Facebook page he kept, is a member of the state police's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
Mr. Kinney was initially arrested at the mall on April 26. Inside his car, law enforcement officers allegedly discovered a diaper bag containing several diapers, a pacifier and baby bottle, condoms, candy and a canister of children’s bubble fluid. Seized from his pocket was an Apple iPhone on which police found at least 56 images of child pornography. In addition, investigators identified numerous times when Mr. Kinney allegedly shared and received images of child pornography, and found numerous images of children being harshly punished and/or beaten.
The new charges come as police look deeper into Mr. Kinney's past. A continuing investigation has revealed that between January 2011 and December 2013, Mr. Kinney allegedly used two minor children to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography, some of which he distributed to others.
If convicted as charged in the federal indictment, Mr. Kinney faces:
• A mandatory minimum of 15 to 30 years in jail, mandatory special assessments of $5,100 and a fine of up to $250,000 on each charge of production of child pornography;
• A mandatory minimum of 10 years up to life imprisonment, mandatory special assessments of $5,100 and a fine of up to $250,000 on the charge of enticement of a minor to engage in prohibited sexual activity;
• A mandatory minimum of five years up to 20 years imprisonment, mandatory special assessments of $5,100 and a fine of up to $250,000 on the charges of distribution of child pornography and receipt of child pornography;
• Up to 20 years imprisonment, mandatory special assessments of $5,100 and a fine of up to $250,000 on the charge of possession of child pornography.
 The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ronald R. Gendron.
