A Warren man pleaded guilty in federal court last week to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Andre T. Dupree, 26, of Warren (no address given by authorities) was arrested by Newport police this March following a car stop. Mr. Dupree, who was a front seat passenger in the car, was arrested after police discovered a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a bag containing 50 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

According to records on file with the Rhode Island Judiciary, Mr. Dupree has a lengthy criminal record, including a 2012 conviction for two counts of drug trafficking. He was sentenced to four months in jail, followed by five years of probation.
