Warren needs more infrastructure improvements

Posted

To meet the need for continued maintenance and improvements to local infrastructure, Warren requires a state representative with local insight and management experience.

When we repair the broken bike path bridge, we need to include the local composites industry. The Metacom Corridor Plan needs a strong advocate for funding so we can see progress on a centerline turn lane and bike path crossing at Libby Lane and Franklin Street.

The sidewalks on Main Street south of Beach Street need to be pushed for completion. We need to connect Warren to the rest of the communities in Narragansett Bay with a ferry network that stops at the town marina.

Ensuring accessibility to Warren for all, means opportunities for economic growth and a greater quality of life. Much of the heart and soul of Warren is located on the working waterfront.

I will support lead efforts to preserve and protect this asset. Let’s locate a boat ramp which will allow increased access for all residents. As state representative, I will use my local management experience to help guide State House discussions to improve our infrastructure.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
