The Warren police officer accused of crashing his truck into a Metacom Avenue home while driving drunk earlier this month now faces a felony charge of possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Patrolman Adam Floor, 25, of Bristol, was arraigned Friday, June 18, in Sixth Division District Court on the original charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, BAC unknown, and on the second firearm charge. He was off duty at the time of the crash.
Prosecutor Meghan McDonough of the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office said in court Friday that investigating officers found a Glock 43 semi-automatic pistol in Mr. Floor's truck after being called to the scene of the crash at 2:48 a.m. Sunday, June 13. It was not his department-issued firearm.
Mr. Floor, who joined the force in late 2019, did not enter pleas on either the felony weapons charge or the DUI charge. He was released on $5,000 personal recognizance and is due in Providence Superior Court in September.
Mr. Floor is currently on administrative leave with pay.
