Warren PD make seven arrests and investigate car thefts

The Warren PD had a full plate from July 3-10, 2023, as they made seven arrests and investigated four car thefts within two days.

Warren PD make seven arrests and investigate car thefts

Monday, July 3

Peter Sampson, 40, of 100 Arlington Ave., Warren, turned himself in on a warrant at 7:43 a.m. He was charged with three counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, 3rd+ offense, vandalism, and disorderly conduct). He was transported to district court later that morning.

A 14-year-old juvenile was arrested following a disturbance on Market Street at 11:29 a.m. They were charged with driving without consent of the owner or lessee and disorderly conduct.

Eric J. Moreira, 45, of 1278 W. Main Road, Portsmouth, was arrested following a call regarding suspicious activity near Nobert Street at 4:27 p.m. involving two men walking into the wooded area and appearing to have an argument. He was charged with an active superior court warrant and was transported to the ACI later that evening.

Police dispersed people who were lighting off fireworks at the park on Wood Street at 9:18 p.m.

Police checked on multiple other reports of fireworks throughout the Warren area.

Tuesday, July 4

DOT was advised of a malfunctioning traffic signal at the intersection of Metacom Avenue and Vernon Street at 7:45 a.m.

A man and a woman having a loud argument on Joyce Street were told to quiet down on Joyce Street at 10:25 a.m.

A Brown Street resident reported at 1:37 p.m. that they believed they found a bag of cocaine within an apartment.

The fire department checked on a Vernon Street home that had partially caught fire due to a grill explosion around 2:24 p.m. The fire volunteers confirmed the fire had been extinguished.

Amanda Cecilya Rodriguez, 52, of 3 Denver Ave., Warren, was arrested following an incident on Denver Avenue at 7:19 p.m. She was charged with two counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, and disorderly conduct, both first offenses). She was arraigned and released later that evening.

Police made multiple trips to residents reportedly lighting off fireworks between 8:00 and 9:45 p.m.

A Market Street resident reported that a man had sprayed water from a hose into their window at 11:35 p.m.

Wednesday, July 5

Josephine Parrilla, 18, of 25 W. Evans St., Newport, was arrested following a motor vehicle stop near Main Street and Truman Avenue at 1:22 a.m. She was charged with DUI of liquor (BAC unknown, first offense), and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer. She was arraigned and released later that morning.

A Bridge Street resident reported having documents stolen at 12:01 p.m.

Thursday, July 6

A Coomer Avenue resident reported their license plate had been lost or stolen at 10:50 a.m.

A man who was reportedly panhandling near Main and Child Streets at 11:08 a.m. was dispersed.

Police dispersed people from the Town Beach on Water Street at 4:46 p.m. who were in the water despite the beach being closed due to high bacteria counts. They were called back again for the same reason at 5:55 p.m.

Police investigated a neighborly dispute regarding grilling on Wood Street at 5:46 p.m.

Friday, July 7

Warren fire volunteers were called to an address on Market Street after a report of a large brush fire at 2:35 a.m. They found it was coming from within a large fire pit, and advised those responsible to put the fire out, which they complied with.

A Franklin Street resident reported at 6:42 a.m. that his company vehicle was broken into overnight.

A lifeguard at the Town Beach on Water Street reported finding a hypodermic needle on the beach at 10:25 a.m.

Saturday, July 8

A woman on Water Street reported at 5:44 a.m. that her vehicle was missing from her driveway, and that an app showed it was currently at a market in Swansea, Mass. Swansea police were notified and the vehicle was entered into the stolen property database.

A male caller on Water Street reported at 7:50 a.m. that their vehicle had been stolen as well.

National Grid was advised that a garbage disposal truck had struck a pole on Seymour Street at 8:03 a.m. and knocked an electrical box to the ground.

A bicycle was reported stolen from a Child Street residence at 2:59 p.m.

Bristol County Water Authority was notified around 6:29 p.m. for a possible water main break on Greene Street, which caused a good amount of water to collect in the road.

Shawn M. Guy Rivera, 27, of 78 Whitmarsh St., Providence, was arrested following a motor vehicle stop on Metacom Avenue at 7:38 p.m. He was charged with DUI of liquor (BAC of .15 or greater, first offense). He was arraigned and released to the custody of a parent later that evening.

Kimberly Deneault, 36, of 18 Wood St., Apt. #3, Warren, was arrested following a disturbance on Market Street at 10:21 p.m. She was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, and was arraigned and released to the custody of a parent early the following morning.

Sunday, July 9

A man reported at 1:05 a.m. that another man was walking around a parking lot on Metacom Avenue possibly looking into vehicles. Nobody was found in the area.

Warren PD received a call from Pawtucket PD following a pursuit they had with a vehicle in their city, which resulted in the operator crashing into a building and fleeing on foot. The car came up as being registered to an owner in Warren, who confirmed the car had been stolen.

A Franklin Street resident reported at 6:55 a.m. that someone had gone through his vehicle overnight.

A caller on State Street reported at 7:13 a.m. that his car was not where he parked it last night, indicating it might have been stolen.

Police received a report that a skateboarder was riding in the road on Main Street at 2:59 p.m., but was gone when police checked the area.

A report of syringes being found on Wood Street was logged at 4:02 p.m.

Monday, July 10

A Metacom Avenue resident reported at 5:46 a.m. that his bicycle had been stolen.
