Warren Police made three arrests and responded to multiple reports of a large speedboat causing chaos on the Warren River between Aug. 28 and Sept. 4, 2023.

Monday, Aug. 28
Police assisted in helping a disabled vehicle being pushed off Main Street at 7:16 a.m.

Police advised a business on Metacom Avenue that their activities were blocking the sidewalk at 12:43 p.m.

Police received a report from Barrington PD that there was a person on Main Street near the bridge walking with a head lamp on who seemed suspicious. No one was found in the area.

Tuesday, Aug. 29
Graffiti was reported on the Burr’s Hill band shell at 10:33 a.m.

A caller reported a hit and run incident on Metacom Avenue at 2:44 p.m. The vehicle fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Police left a note to vacate at a tent site in a section of the woods on Wood Street at 3:47 p.m. following a tip that someone was living in the area.

Warren fire volunteers knocked down a grill fire on Everett Street at 5:34 p.m.

A Milwaukee Avenue resident reported a large sum of money missing from their bank account at 6:44 p.m.

A woman from Child Street reported at 8:09 p.m. that an unknown person has been sending food to her home.

Wednesday, Aug. 30
Police responded to an accident on Metacom Avenue at 9:31 a.m. involving a possible road rage incident.

An employee of an office on Main Street reported at 7:43 p.m. that their wallet and another staff member’s wallet was stolen from their office.

Thursday, Aug. 31
Police advised a woman to quiet down near Main and Union Streets at 3:29 a.m. following two reports she was outside pacing back and forth while yelling obscenities on her phone.

Police searched for a female panhandler who was allegedly harassing bank customers on Main Street at 11:48 a.m. She was gone when they arrived.
Credit card fraud was reported on Metacom Avenue at 6:40 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 1
A Metacom Avenue resident reported at 9:06 a.m. that they believed a cleaning company was dumping carpet cleaner down a drain. The complaint was provided to the state Department of Health, and the manager was advised of the complaint.

Police assisted a tractor trailer who was having difficulty making a turn near Water and Washington Streets at 7:25 p.m.

Desaray Lee Casper Gotay, 18, of 221 Rogers Lane, Middletown, RI, was arrested following an altercation on Joyce Street near the police station at 7:50 p.m. They were charged with two counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery and disorderly conduct, both first offenses). They were arraigned and released to the custody of Newport police.

Saturday, Sept. 2
DEM was advised of an injured deer on Birch Swamp Road at 10:33 a.m.

Sunday, Sept. 3
Shawn Frazier, 36, of 200 Woodhaven Road, Pawtucket, was arrested following a motor vehicle stop near Arlington Avenue and Rosa Boulevard at 2:08 a.m. He was charged with DUI of liquor (BAC unknown, first offense) and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer. He was arraigned and released later that morning.

The harbormaster was advised from multiple callers regarding a 40-foot cigarette-style speedboat operating at excessive speed in the Warren River, knocking over paddle boarders.

Monday, Sept. 4
Brendan Doyle, 37, of 624 Metacom Ave., Apt. #306, Warren, was arrested following a noise complaint on Metacom Avenue at 12:06 a.m. He was charged with one count of disorderly conduct and issued a summons.
