Warren police logs: Intoxicated bicyclist hit by car, injured and then arrested

Monday, April 8
Police searched for an aggressive driver on Metacom Avenue, but could not locate the car.
Police stopped a car on Main Street after a caller reported that a narcotics deal might have been conducted within. The claim was unfounded, an officer reported.
Police got a call about a suspicious man going through a mailbox on Child Street.
Stephen Holstein, 57, of 340 Main St., Apt. 2, was charged with failing to stop after an accident.
Tuesday, April 9
A caller from Barton Avenue told police that a woman broke into his house and was sleeping inside.
Someone slashed the tires on a car parked on Child Street.
Yeudy Felipe Ulloa, 26, of Providence, was charged with failing to stop after an accident and driving without or on an expired license, second offense.
A caller from Child Street complained that neighbors were constantly smoking marijuana.
A caller complained that two women were spray-painting the sidewalk on Water Street. It turned out to be two juveniles using hairspray.
Wednesday, April 10
Police dispersed a man from a Market Street residence after a caller asked that they remove her boyfriend.
A Vernon Street man reported receiving a phone call from an unknown party.
Livestock got loose on Libby Lane, but were soon corralled.
Thursday, April 11
A Child Street resident reported noisy neighbors. Police checked it out and were told that the resident’s kids would be quieted down.
Goats got loose on Libby Lane.
A caller complained about a skateboarder on Main Street whom she feared would hit someone or damage property.
Police confirmed a caller’s complaint that a recycling truck left trash strewn across several front yards on Seymour Street. Police called DPW.
A Vernon Street resident reported fraud after receiving a letter regarding credit cards for which she never applied.
Friday, April 12
An aggressive driver was reported on Market Street.
A caller complained about a truck driving on the East Bay Bike Path. Police checked it out — it was a DEM vehicle.
Brendan John Benequisto, 36, of 1 Shipyard Lane, was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after police were called to Main Street for a collision between a bicyclist and a car. Police said Mr. Benequisto was riding a bike when he was struck by a car at Main and Campbell streets. Upon arrival officers were told that both the bicyclist and the car had left. While checking the area police spotted Mr. Benequisto at his home further down the street. Police said he was highly intoxicated and was injured due to the accident. When officers tried to evaluate him, police said he became physically aggressive, resisted and was subsequently placed under arrest. He was later transported to the hospital.
Saturday, April 13
A caller complained about a motorcyclist on the East Bay Bike Path. Police tracked it down — it was a homemade motorized power scooter, and the driver was advised to take it home.
A caller reported a possible drug deal on Main Street. Police checked it out, but it was unfounded.
Sunday, April 14
A distraught woman with marks on her face and neck came in to police headquarters, but left before providing any information to officers.
A shoplifting call came in from a Market Street business.
Monday, April 15
Police searched for but could not locate a possible drunk driver reportedly on Metacom Avenue just before 12:30 a.m.
